Early Quadruped Walking Machine

Postby Matt Denton » Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:34 pm

I have seen a fair few images of this crazy walking machine over the years, but only recently spotted this video. Looks like it was really hard work for the operator to get it to walk, but very intuitive for moving objects around!

That was really impressive thinking of when it was made.
"Exhausted after 15 minutes" .. LOL, I can imagine that.. Also very impressive how accurate control he had and also kept the quad in balance.

Really impressive when you think there was no electrical system controlling the proportional hydraulics, from what I can understand it was all mechanical linkages from operator to control valves including force feedback!

There's and article here in an 1969 edition of popular science.

Nice. Looks like it would easily take the win at big obstacles.
