I had an Idea here I wanted to swing by some of you to get your opinion's.

Most of the robot's spoken about here are modeled after Insect's Spiders etc in body type, gait's etc. For the Quad section Im curious and matt Im looking for your opinion also. What if you modeled a Quad after a Bat instead of an insect. not in flight but like a vampire bat on the ground for instance. I noticed looking at your Hexapod machine matt that the legs are simular in some way's to the front arm's of a bat what if you exstended the forarm design about 3 or so inches and added a 2 fingered foot/wrist at the end. and reprogramed the gain from a wave motion into something new. " up forward, down back and instead of the sort of truffle shuffle bats do with there hind legs you change it out for something like an Aligator Ive been thinking of animatronics(( forgive spelling) you could do this but I got to working on a Plastic chassis last night it was stiff as hell to fix this I added a Ball socket double sided joint and made the body two peices linked by the swaybar linkage between the two peaces.. I stole ( forgive me ) the idea of of the center Torso area from the Swashbot robot Concept i saw on U-tube. alittle exstra weight and Minus one working rc heli later I had the center peice working ok Via Remote . I havent worked on any of the rest of it yet And frankly Im a Programing dult at the moment I just dont have the materials or the knowhow to finish the project but by builing this little midsection I think it would allow for a Fluid 4 leged Gait with the torso working with the arms and the legs etc as part of the gait I think you could end up with a Quad with a vary stable more fluid walking motion. ( untested)

Keep in mind that when i talk about gait Im thinking in my head of many various movements ive seen from my Monitor Lizzard Reggies Lazy strole threw the liveing room to the about 80 video's ive seen now of bat's walking around on the ground or along branches all the way to the Wyvern Dragons from the movie " Reign of fire"
