RF serial links

Postby No1_sonuk » Thu Oct 23, 2008 9:22 am

Any suggestions for UK sourced RF serial links?

I'm specifically after something to connect my PC to an SSC-32 for development before I add a PIC to decode RC signals.

What RF band do you want to use?

Bluetooth, BlueRadio, Zigbee, WiFi?

I'm not particular, though I'd prefer not WiFi.

Zigbee seems like a reasonable "upgrade" to anything like Bluetooth-ish...

What sort of setup is involved?
Is it plug and play, or do I need to mess with microcontroller-driven configuration setups? I have experience with PICs, so that's not an issue if it's needed.

Zigbee is relatively easy to configure with a serial port, and can in some cases work out of the box. Also is is much more suited to streaming data than bluetooth.

Hmm, OK.
What do I need to get a simple PC to SSC-32 link going?
Any specific product recommendations?

This lot are kinda UK based and pretty reasonable to deal with. ;)

I also saw THIS which (err) might(?) be of interest - with getting things set-up.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

I'm a PC (XP) and PIC man, but there might be something useful there.
