HexControl - yet another small pod-control application

Postby Quant » Tue Mar 10, 2009 3:40 am

I just got started with my MSR-H01 a few days ago, and wrote a first test application in Delphi 7 for streaming PIP commands. So expect nothing fancy, it's just my first quick&dirty tool for the hexapod.

The source is GPL licenced, so feel free to reuse it.

If you want to give it a try, you can download HexControl v0.1 here.

Here's a screenshot:

Of course bug reports or improvement suggestions are welcome.

Cheers, Alex.

Looks great Alex!

I like the spring return joystick controls, and the right button switch to Z control, very nice :) I will give it a go later on a hex.

Very fine application, managed to make it work under Ubuntu. Good intuitive user interface.

I've done a little tinkering with the PIP protocol myself, but from Java. Still much to do, but the PIP protocol is the right way to control the hex from another program.

Thanks for the feedback Matt & pem!

Regarding the "joysticks": I was aiming at a most intuitive 3D-control with a 2D-mouse. The implementation as-is works, but I'm not quite satisfied with it - there's still quite a (mental and physical) break when switching between X/Y- and Z-control. So if anyone has an idea how such a control could work more intuitively and fluidly, please let me know.

Cheers, Alex.

Have you tried my PODJoy application using joysticks?

Have you thought of adding joystick control?

I don't suppose you are able to write application for OSX? there are a few MAC users who would like to have OSX control capabilities without using paralelles. I'm going to have a go at writing a cocoa app my self, but its a steep learning curve and time is limited :)

I had a look at PODJoy, but since I don't have a joystick for the PC, I couldn't really play with it.

Sorry Matt, I wish I could help out with this, but I have absolutely no experience with MACs whatsoever.

Cheers, Alex.
