They don't make them like this anymore...

I'm having a bit of a clear out of old computer hardware, and came across this EPIC 3GB SCSI hard disk from 1996 ish. When I got my hands on this drive I think my computer had about a 140mb hard disk, and 4mb of ram. I remember thinking how would I ever need 3Gb of storage! Well It's taking up too much space so I decided to take it apart. The case it came in had its own powersupply and isn't much smaller than a desktop PC! Also weighs about 5Kg!

Take a look at the comparison in size to a 3.5" and 2.5" Hard disk :shock: I also fired it up with the case off, the amount of air that is generated is easily better than most house fans I have come a cross ;) Awesome piece of engineering, almost too good to scrap :(

Just look at the size of the magnets at the head arm! and the accompanying 5mm thick metal screen!! And 11 platters.
