Hi Jason,

Firstly you need to follow the gamepad keys in the HexEngine Configuration guide V1.1 page 29, not the BS2 tutorial guide:

If you can see the PS2 TEST screen and things seem to be working, then the pad should be connected ok. You should be able to see the analogue sticks working plus all the digital buttons?

just tried the LM wireless ps2 controller, but no luck yet.
PS2 is enabled in the hexengine and when i try ps2 test - it says it's not connected.

The wireless module is connected like the diagram i posted earlier and whne power is applied to the SMB, the left hand led (looking at it) lights, but there's nothing from the right hand one.

Hi David,

Played around with the HexEngine + LM wireless controller last night, It seems to work.. most of the time! but does occasionally stop working, usually after I have switched of the hexapod and restarted it? The wired controllers seem to work well all the time, so my thinking is that the LM controller does not like being run off the same supply as the servos (my current configuration is 1 6V NiMh battery for servos + Logic ).

Will try a sepperate 9V PP3 for logic at some point.

lmfao... I did say it was late last night, didn't I !!!

Having consulted the *correct* documentation, I can indeed confirm my hex is walking around under ps2 control now :) Having sorted this with a crappy clone gamepad, I'll set about dismembering one of my MadCatz wireless controllers now :)

One thing missing from the button combos Matt is on/off road gait... I still don't understand what this 3D balance gesture is supposed to be doing however :|

For those who helped during the design phase of the MSR-H01 hexapod, please check THIS POST and add your thoughts on the MSR-µBug :)

Hello Matt! I very like your MSR-H01. But i have some questions:
1. Can MSR-H01 work in independent mode?
2. How long hexapod can work on one charge of batterys?
P.S.: sorry for my english...

Hi. Welcome to the forum!

1) I'm not sure what you mean by independent mode, independent of what? could you explain a little more?

2) This depends on the battery used, with the 4600 6V NiMh pack, between 30 to 45 minutes depending on the gait used.

Thanks for so fast answer!
I mean work without rc control... like animal. Can hexapod walk self, bypass obstacle?

Hi,

Only with an external programme controlling the HexEngine. The HexEngine is designed to take care of the locomotion functions, so you send simple commands such as forwards, left etc.. these commands could come from another on board processor which is taking care of obstacle avoidance or whatever the higher level application is :)

There is a tutorial I created HERE, which implements basic obstacle avoidance using a sonic ranger and Basic stamp processor controlling the HexEngine. However, this is not a complete solution.. just a starting point for others to improve.
