Thanks for that MSR, I read through it and it has some interesting features and facts.
I was a bit worried about certain aspects of his build though. Some of the construction was a bit dodgy to say the least. If anything the document could be a bit off-putting as it seems to imply you need to know everyhing from Low-level logic circuits to arc-welding. In fact if you read closely, he tries absolutely everything.
Electronics-wise, I have no intention of re-inventing the wheel. Whatever I can come up with is readily available somewhere and at I price I couldnt match. I'll go down that route I think.
It does emphasise the one thing that is going to be difficult and that is accuracy.
The final product will only be as accurate as the machining put into its construction. I'm beginning to believe that I cannot achieve the degree of accuracy needed with home tools. At least not until I've made my first CNC machine then I can use that to make more.....
